Engineer, Risked-Based Inspection (RBI)

Plains Midstream has an opening within our Calgary corporate office for a Risked-Based Inspection (RBI) Engineer.  This is a 6 month full time contract position and will provide critical oversight and expertise in performing risk assessment, damage mechanisms, and validation of equipment design. The successful candidate can become eligible to be converted from a contractor to staff after completing a minimum 6 months of work.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform risk assessment according to API 580 and provide recommendation on inspection plan and mitigation plan for pressure vessels, piping and tanks;

  • Perform damage mechanism studies and provide integrity operation window (IOW) for major equipment; and

  • Perform validation of equipment design data, inspection effectiveness, and make reasonable assumption as required.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Mechanical or Metallurgical engineer with ABSA;

  • Minimum 5 years pressure vessel related experience including design, fabrication, operations, corrosion, metallurgy, and inspection etc;

  • Has understanding and experience in API 571 and other NACE corrosion related standards, hand-on experience in damage mechanism of gas straddle plants, especially in caustic and amine systems;

  • PCMS experience is an asset;

  • Knowledge in API 580, API 581, and other recognized international risk assessment standards is asset; and

  • The successful completion of reference check and background check.
